Add skills and track skill progress
Required skills allows you to require students to demonstrate specific skills before advancing to the next level or rank in their membership. This ensures consistent progression and gives both staff and students clear visibility into achievement milestones.

Why use skill tracking?
Skills help you manage student progress and communication. You can use them to:
- Track progress toward the next rank
- Show students what to practice in the member app
- Automate eligibility invitations to testing events based on attendance and skill completion in V2
Skills keep students informed and make progression easier to manage.
Add required skills to a level/rank
If students must complete certain skills before advancing, you can add those skills to a level or rank.
To add required skills

Go to "Services and Products" > Memberships

Edit or create a membership

Make sure "Does this Program use Levels/Ranks?" is toggled on.

Go to Levels/Ranks on the left side.

Click the edit pencil for the desired level/rank.

Click "Add Required Skills."
From there you can,

Add required skills

Attach a video link or resource URL for students to review.
This helps students practice outside of class.
Add skill details in member app > resources section
You can add more information about a skill in the Member app > resources section. Student can view this in the member app.
In Resources, you can:

Upload videos
-
Share helpful links or files
Control who can see it
You can limit access so:

Only certain ranks/levels can view it

Only specific memberships can view it
This ensures students only see content that applied to them.
Mark a skill as completed
If your program or membership requires skills to be completed, you can mark them complete for a student.
Method 1: From "All customers" section
- Go to "All customers"
- Click "Programs" under "Participants"
- Find the student
- Scroll right to the "Skill Progress" column
- Click the green number
- Click "Complete" next to the finished skill
Method 2: From the participant registration page
- Go to "All customers"
- Click "Programs" under "Participants"
- Click on the student you want to update to open their membership registration page.
- Click the progress bar on the left side under their name
- Click "Complete" next to the finished skill
Method 3: From V2 Attendance > Class Schedule
You can also update skills while taking attendance.

Login to V2.

Go to "Attendance" and click "Class Schedule"

Select the day and class time of your choice.

Open the roster or go to the "All participants" tab

Find the student

Click the three dots next to "Register" or "Check in"

Update or complete their skills
This makes it easy for instructors to update progress during class.
