How To: Transfer Ownership of Your MyStudio Business Account
A step-by-step guide to seamlessly transfer your MyStudio business account to a new owner.

Step 1: Contact your MyStudio Account Manager
To initiate a transfer of ownership request:

The original owner should contact their MyStudio Account Manager. The Account Manager will verify the current owner and confirm the transfer.

Important note regarding franchises: If the original account is part of a franchise and will be transferred outside the franchise, a new MyStudio account must be created. In this case, your Account manager will assist with transferring member information and payment tokens to help minimize disruption during the transition.
Step 2: Provide the Account Manager with the new owner's contact details
After confirming the transfer with the original owner, the Account Manager will contact the new owner to schedule the ownership transition.
Step 3: (Optional) Change account owner’s email address
If the new owner also wants to update the account owner’s email, the original owner must email MyStudio Support (success@mystudio.academy) or your Account Manager directly from the address currently associated with the account to request the change.
For example: The current owner [insert current email for MyStudio account] must email success@mystudio.academy or their Account Manager directly stating “I am requesting that the account email be changed to [insert new email for MyStudio account].”
Step 4: Scheduling Stripe account transition
The Account Manager and new owner will work together to disconnect the original owner’s Stripe account and securely connect the new owner’s Stripe account.
Important: For tax and compliance purposes, a new Stripe must be created for the new owner. Do not update or replace the information on the existing Stripe account.
Note: The new owner cannot accept payments through MyStudio until the Stripe account transition is complete.
Step 5: Updating billing and payout information
After the Stripe account has been transferred, the new owner should complete the following updates:

Update the credit card on file used to pay for the MyStudio subscription. Learn more about updating the credit card on file.
