- There are no plan restrictions for connecting Twilio, but it does require the MyStudio Twilio add-on.
General info
What is Twilio?
Twilio is a third-party communications company from which you can create an account in order to send SMS to your customers through the MyStudio platform.
Prerequisites before this step
In order to connect Twilio to your MyStudio account, you will need to have completed all the steps in the following articles:
- Twilio Step 1: Buy MyStudio’s Communication Add-on
- Twilio Step 2: Setup Twilio Account
- Twilio Step 3: Regulatory Compliance Onboarding (Brand Registration and A2P 10DLC Campaign Creation)
- OR Twilio Step 3 Alternative: Toll-free Verification (Only if you bought a toll-free number)
Without doing these prior steps, you will not be able to successfully connect Twilio to MyStudio. If you have a Twilio account, but have not completed or been approved for the A2P 10DLC or the SMS campaign, or if you haven’t added funds to that account, you will still be able to connect the Twilio account to MyStudio, but SMS communications will not work.
What fees are associated with connecting Twilio?
One time fees
- One time fee to Twilio associated with the A2P 10DLC registration, depending on which “brand” you fill out in the document.
- One time campaign vetting fee to Twilio per campaign.
Monthly fees
- Monthly fee to MyStudio for the communication enhancement (Twilio) add-on.
- Monthly cost to Twilio associated with the brand type you entered as well as each campaign you create, depending on your selection for the campaign use type.
- Per message usage to Twilio.
Pay as you go fees
- You will need to ensure your Twilio account has funds at all times to ensure communications don’t get interrupted. This can be set up as an auto-recharge.

What is the benefit of having Twilio?
Our V2 system requires you to connect your own Twilio account in order to use SMS communication. Additionally, having your Twilio account keeps you in control of your messaging limits and allows you to send emojis and images in your texts.

Can I keep using my current MyStudio number?
If you would like to continue using the MyStudio number you were using before, you will still need to create a Twilio account and upgrade to an SMS plan. We will also need to port your MyStudio number into your Twilio account.

Info needed to connect Twilio to MyStudio
In order to connect your Twilio account to MyStudio, you will need:
- Your Twilio account auth token
- The Twilio account SID
To find this information:
- Login to your Twilio account.
- Go to your homepage.
- The auth token and account SID are at the bottom of the page.

What is the account SID and auth token in Twilio?
- Account SID: a unique identifier for your Twilio account, similar to a username.
- Auth Token: this is like a password for your Twilio accounts for API calls. It gives permission for integration with other systems like MyStudio.
How to connect Twilio to MyStudio in V1
Note: You only have to connect the Twilio account to either V1 or V2. Once it’s connected to one version, it will also be connected to the other version.
To connect Twilio in MyStudio V1:
- In MyStudio, go to integrations > Twilio.
- Enter your Twilio’s account SID and auth token.
- Click “connect.”
- Choose the phone number from your Twilio account.
- Click continue.

How to connect Twilio to MyStudio in V2
Note: You only have to connect the Twilio account to either V1 or V2. Once it’s connected to one version, it will also be connected to the other version.
To connect Twilio in MyStudio V2:
- Go to integrations > discover.
- Click the Twilio card.
- Click “connect.”
- Enter your Twilio’s account SID and auth token.
- Click “connect.”
- Choose the phone number from your Twilio account.
- Click continue.

What happens if I have multiple locations?
If you have multiple locations, the same auth token and account SID from your Twilio account can be connected in multiple MyStudio accounts, but you will need unique phone numbers for each location.
